What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from September 2025. ERO found good quality teaching, with most students at or above the expected level in reading and a large majority in writing and maths, although ERO could not confirm how equitable results are across groups.

Most students attend regularly, the school is close to the government’s attendance target and chronic absence is falling. Students have a strong sense of belonging and know the school’s values, structured literacy is used consistently, and a structured maths programme is being rolled out.

ERO’s priorities are a formal assessment framework used consistently across the school, teaching that lines up with curriculum requirements to raise achievement, clear school-wide expectations for planning and teaching, better attendance, and consultation with the school’s Māori community.

ERO also said the board needs to make sure the school is a physically and emotionally safe place to learn, and found it had not met some legal requirements, including consulting its Māori community on plans for Māori students, keeping minutes of closed board meetings and having a proper complaints process. The board has since acted to fix these, ERO notes.
