What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from May 2025. ERO found that success and progress are rising and that good teaching is lifting results in reading, writing and maths.

Most students are at or above the expected level in reading and a large majority in writing and maths; results are becoming fairer across groups in reading and maths but not yet in writing.

The school is close to the government’s regular attendance target and chronic absence is falling. Students feel a strong sense of belonging, structured literacy is embedded across the school with a structured maths programme being planned, and leaders use assessment information well to set priorities.

The agreed next steps are to review learning programmes to raise progress and equity in reading, writing and maths and speed up learning for targeted groups, make more use of teaching that responds to students’ needs and interests, build on practices that respond to students’ cultures, and keep working to raise regular attendance.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, with siblings of current students given priority, and by ballot when a priority group has more applicants than places. The board announces the number of out-of-zone places and the ballot dates by public notice each year.

Enrolment starts with an online form linked from the school’s enrolment page, and five-year-olds start school in small groups on set cohort entry dates.
