What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from April 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together. They agreed to look at the effect of a return to explicit teaching of number and place value in maths, with parents and whānau brought in as partners in that learning.

ERO noted strengths the school can draw on: an experienced leadership team that supports teachers, and teachers who analyse progress data, inquire into their own practice and give students useful feedback on their goals.

The school’s priorities are clear maths learning pathways that prepare students well for the move to college, more involvement from parents and whānau in their children’s learning, and new ways to build culturally responsive practice into teaching.
