What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from March 2025. ERO found good quality teaching that is improving, with a large majority of students at or above the expected level in reading and maths but only a small majority in writing, and results not yet equitable across groups.

The school is behind the government’s regular attendance target, though chronic absence is falling. Students feel they belong and are well supported through inclusive teaching, students with complex needs are well supported, structured literacy is embedded through the Better Start Literacy Approach, and a structured maths programme is in place.

The agreed next steps are consistent assessment that respects students’ cultural identity, better use of assessment information for teaching and reporting, stronger teaching to lift writing for groups of students, and attendance procedures built with whānau.

ERO also found the board had not met legal requirements on safety checks of staff and on its physical restraint policies, and notes these have since been addressed.
