What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from May 2025. ERO found that only a small majority of students meet or exceed curriculum expectations in reading, writing and maths, that results in reading and writing are not yet even across groups, and that the school is not on track to meet the government’s achievement targets, which it agreed must be a key priority.
Students achieve most strongly in maths, and some priority learners need faster progress in reading and writing. On the positive side, teaching is of good quality, students are well supported and feel they belong, learners with complex needs are well supported, the curriculum is rich and broad, and the values the school developed with its community are well known by students. Attendance is approaching the target and improving.
The agreed next steps are to build a shared understanding of the curriculum so it is taught consistently, with more te reo Māori and tikanga Māori woven into learning; make fuller use of assessment and real-time reporting tools to plan teaching and keep families informed; and build stronger ties with local iwi, hapū and the wider community so their hopes for students shape the school’s planning.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol, and the school asks families to check their address against its zone map before applying. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places, and the school says siblings of current students get priority.
Applications are made through an online enrolment form, ideally within six months of a child’s fifth birthday. New entrants start in groups at set points each term, and the school publishes the cohort start and visit dates on its enrolment page.
